Now Commander Adama of the Battlestar Galatica and President Laura Roslin lead a ragtag fleet of refugees in a supposed search for the fabled lost thirteenth colony, Earth. However, the dangers they face are many, which compound an already difficult situation. In addition to the Cylons hunting and attacking the fleet in space and their infiltrator units carrying out sabotage–eventheir former unwitting pawn, Gaius Baltar, helps in the hunt for them while hiding both his own guilt and the strange presence that haunts his every thought–the fleet also faces internal political conflict in which the rabble-rousing figure Tom Zarek is merely the loudest dissenting voice, not to mention recurring shortages of food, water, and even oxygen. In the midst of these trials, however, clues begin to appear to suggest that Adama's bluff about finding Earth might hold more truth than anyone could have guessed.

For starters, I am not and have never been a big science fiction fan. I used to watch various Star Trek series occasionally and I enjoy a Star Wars movie now and again. But, everyone loves those right? <br/><br/>Anyway, a friend of mine who IS a science fiction fan turned me on to Battlestar Galactica. It just so happened that he has the first season and half of the second season on DVD. I started with the mini-series and immediately wanted more. That first night, I stayed up until well after sunrise watching episode after episode. <br/><br/>The reasons why I was so easily hooked are many and strong. The story lines are thoughtfully crafted, the dialogue is well written, the acting is superb, the documentary style camera work is unique in this genre, and the visual effects almost always stand up to anything you see in a big-budget movie.<br/><br/>I've heard complaints about over-dramatizing, poor camera work, and gratuitous sex. To this I say, don't watch it if you don't like it. I'll grant that the shaking camera bothers me at times too. But, it definitely goes a long way into making the audience feelif they're actually involved in the action. When it comes to the sex and drama, that's just the show. I personally can't stand how clean and sanitized most of television is these days. People need to realize that life is not clean, or child-friendly. This series reflects our lives today, and possibly is prophetic of our fragile future. <br/><br/>Battlestar Galactica is smart, slick, and best of all, adult-oriented. This isn't your daddy's Galactica, kids. It'll take you for a ride most science fiction fans aren't prepared to go on. So say we all.
This very show is the definition of great television programing. The writing is phenomenal and realistic. The action is amazing and a spectacle to the eye.The music, done by Bear McCreary, immerses you into every dark corner and dramatic pause of the show. Never in my life have I experienced a show like this. It pushes the envelope not only for Science-Fiction television but sets an example for the current running drama shows to follow. Battlestar Galactica is an amazing show and should be considered to watch, even to those who do not fancy Sci-Fi. The realism overpowers the fiction part of the story and puts you in a character driven world. It is truly amazing!
